A camera is a critical component to successful separation anxiety training! Being able to watch your dog during a training session or real-life absence is key for preventing scary alone time experiences. We want our dogs to feel safe and comfortable home alone so we must prevent them from having scary experiences.

The best and most effective way to do this is by watching your dog with a camera!

Our favorite brand of camera is Wyze!

This camera brand is our favorite because of the price, quality, and accessibility! The price is very reasonable for the quality. I have not found a better camera out there for the price yet. I also love that Wyze has a very easy to use app for download to your smart phone. You can connect multiple cameras to your app and have multiple users access these cameras. This makes is extremely easy to check in on your dog while you’re out!

Our favorite stationary camera is the Wyze Cam v3, pictured below! This is an indoor/outdoor camera, has night vision (which makes checking in on your dog at night easy with a clear camera picture), and has 2-way audio. I love being able to hear, as well as see, my dogs while I’m away.

My other favorite camera from Wyze is their Pan Cam v2, pictured below! This camera is only a little more expensive but has tilt, pan, and zoom capabilities! It also offers night vision and 2-way audio.

I have both of these cameras in my living room so I can see the full picture of where and what my dogs are doing while I’m away!

The runner up for favorite camera is Furbo. Furbos are much more expensive, but they are great quality and great fun! They offer a full 360-degree rotating view, which is amazing! Similar to the Wyze brand, they also offer an app, night vision, and 2-way audio.

But some of the coolest features are the barking alerts and treat toss. The Furbo camera will send you a notification if it detects barking, letting you know right away if you dog is becoming stressed being home alone. The camera also has the ability to toss a treat to your dog, how fun is that! I don’t recommend using food during a separation anxiety training session, but it is a really fun feature!

No matter the camera you choose to use, the most important thing is that you are watching your dog during a training session or absence to prevent them from having a fearful response to being home alone! This will help you have the most success with your separation anxiety training!
